I Heart Vacation*
Ah, vacation. It’s been positively lovely. We’ve spent a wonderful week with the Hubster’s parents, and are gearing up for our last full day on the island tomorrow. The Hubster has plans to go deep sea fishing in the morning, then I think we’ll do a little more exploring around Cavendish before we pack our bags. It really is very peaceful here. After spending years living so close to Toronto, it amazes me to see so much… space. There are acres and acres of green land without new subdivisions of skinny, tall townhouses being built. You can look around and just see trees and fields forever. Until you hit the…

Over or Under?
This post is coming to you from beautiful Prince Edward Island! The Hubster, Wee-bean and I packed our lives into three duffle bags and flew across the country to spend a week with the Hubster’s parents (aka: Grandmam and Grandad). It was Ruby’s first time on a plane and she did SO well. There were no tears–just lots of monkey-like climbing as she tried to say hello to every single person on the plane. It feels lovely to be on vacation. Grandmam and Grandad have a beautiful home in the country and it is so scenic. We are surrounded by farmer’s fields that stretch for miles until the reach the…

Catching Up on Sleep*
Remember that happy place I was in after family reunion on Saturday? When I was so excited to go back and see my family / eat more food again the next day? Ugh. When we got home after the reunion, Ruby was tired out. We played quietly for a little while, then she crashed at 8:30 and went out like a light. She didn’t make a peep. Until 2am. When she woke up and decided she was ready to do family reunion all over again. Normally when she wakes up at night I just keep all the lights off and let her play quietly in her bed until she goes…

Family Reunion*
Right now I’m sitting in my parent’s living room, curled up in their big arm chair after a very busy day. The Hubster and Teep are across the room watching an old Clint Eastwood film (not my cup of tea), so I thought I would steal a minute here while the wee-bean sleeps peacefully upstairs. Every year since before I can remember, my dad’s family has hosted a huge family reunion in Muskoka. I love Muskoka. It is seriously one of the most beautiful places in Ontario, and I love coming here to visit with my family. It’s a weekend of laughter, catching up with my aunts, uncles and cousins,…

Apple Time*
When I was little, we had an informal tradition in my house: apple time. Every morning that I was home, after our morning routines / chores were complete we would get to settle in the living room and watch a TV show. We would spread out a blanket on the floor, then my mom would bring us apple slices in these little wooden salad bowls we all loved. I’m not exactly sure how it started, but we loved apple time, and I’m pretty sure that it ignited my love for apples… which are still my favourite fruit. That being said, I’m a bit weird when it comes to apples. I…
