On the Mend*
Roseola. After a long, long week I can finally put a name to the illness that has been ravaging my poor Wee-bean for the last seven days. Her fever persisted until late Friday night before it finally broke… only to make way for a rash that covered her entire torso. It wasn’t itchy, but she was SO uncomfortable and she she continued to want to be held by me all the time. I hate seeing her feeling so small. She has not been herself for days… but this morning she finally woke up with a smile. No fever, her rash is fading and she finally had a decent breakfast. She…

Sick Bean*
Oh my lovelies… it’s been a long week. I mentioned in my last post that Ruby was a little under the weather. She first started with a fever on Monday afternoon, and it has persisted all week long. Most of the time it hovered around 100.0°F, but it would also spike up to 101 or 102°F and every time I thought we had it beat, it would rear it’s ugly head one more time. Ruby is generally a pretty independent kid. She is usually happy to spend the day playing with her toys, coloring, playing with play dough and watching a couple of her favourite shows. It has made the…

Still Figuring Things Out*
How does everyone do it? I have found it incredibly difficult to try and squeeze time in for writing since the arrival of Hank the Tank. It’s not that he has been a difficult baby–quite the opposite, really–but it just feels like I always have something I should be doing. It’s been a challenge to try and keep my house from looking like a complete disaster, cook meals, play with my kiddos and spend time with the Hubster. And yet I follow some amazing women who seem to manage to raise their kids, keep their houses somewhat together and find time to write, so I know it’s possible. I just…

One Month Later*
Has it really been a month since I last posted? Somehow we are already halfway through April and my (not-so) little man will be 7 weeks old tomorrow. Holy toot. A lot has happened in the last few weeks. I’ve often thought about writing, but things have just been so busy. Days will go by before I have a chance to turn on my computer, and even then it seems like I only have enough time to answer a few emails or look up a recipe before I’m needed elsewhere. Tomorrow Hank will be seven weeks old. It has been a wonderful, crazy, exhausting seven weeks but he really is…

Hank’s Shoulder*
You guys, I need to vent. If you read through Hank’s birth story (and survived my “cliff hanger” endings… ha) you’ll know that he and I had a few complications during delivery that resulted with him being born with a fractured clavicle. Right after his birth we were told it should heal completely, but that he would need x-rays and a follow-up with the hospital pediatrician (who is not our doctor) and an orthopedic surgeon. We were also instructed to keep his arm pinned to his clothing to restrict mobility to allow his shoulder to heal. The x-rays were done at our hospital in Pretty City, and we kept his…
