Single Awareness Day Eve*
I have always felt that there is entirely too much pressure put on Valentine’s Day. Those who are in relationships often expect it to be perfect, and those who are single often are only made aware of just how single they are. Mind you, I’m all for remembering the holiday, but seriously, when did it become such a big deal? Already a bunch of my single friends are stressing about how to spend/avoid tomorrow just because they aren’t currently with someone. I think it’s so silly. As you know, I am one of 3 co-chairs of an organization at my university. There are really only supposed to be two–this year was somewhat of an exception. Last fall I was a leader for Frosh week, and while I was there I was approached by a friend to see if I could fill a position on a organizational team (OT) for a group at the university. Maybe. Just maybe. My family takes a trip to Florida every year on March Break, and as I am now a university student, my break comes in February and I can’t go because March Break is in the middle of essay season. Drat. I haven’t been in 2 years. However, this year, I may have an opportunity to go. My biggest hesitations for going are: a) I’m missing a week of classes, and b) I’d be leaving the Hubster on his own for a week. I MIGHT STILL GET METIS MONEY!!!!!! WOOOOO!!! …Did I ever tell you that my family is Metis? Well, we are. I also think that we’re quite possibly the last generation of my family who is eligible to claim it. Anyway, as a Metis post-secondary student in Ontario I can apply for bursaries to help fund my education. Last year I applied and received $750 in December.
