I’m Right* (I think)
When the nurse came in to give me my shot yesterday, she asked me if I was right or left handed, so that she wouldn’t “poke” me in my dominant arm. I replied that I was a righty without thinking much about it, so she gave me the needle in my left arm. Shortly after when I was taken to the lab to get blood work done, without thinking, I offered the same arm. But as I got into my car afterward and started the drive home, my driving arm was sore and quite heavy. I looked down and realized that I drive with my left hand. I use my…

I Survived*
Today I had my first real appointment with my new doctor. I arrived on time, and was whisked into an exam room immediately. A funny, quirky nurse began my physical by asking me a million questions while taking my blood pressure, heart rate and all that fun stuff. I could tell she was cracking jokes to try and ease my nerves, but until I know I’m on my way out of a doctor’s office I’m always a stress case. She left me with a gown to change into, then I hopped up onto the table / bed to wait for my doctor. The waiting is always the worst part. I…

Six Minutes*
Six minutes. It’s not a long time. A brief phone conversation, a hurried meal, a walk across a parking lot. If someone told me that I had only six minutes to complete a task, my first thought would probably be: “That’s not enough time.” I waste six minutes every day. Probably each hour. In six minutes lives were changed forever. I wish I had the words to appropriately convey what I felt as I watched…

Sunday Smiles*
1) March Break. It’s only just begun and I already feel like a new woman. 2) My professor, and her glorious decision to not have any assignments due or discussions for class this week. 3) Encouragement, from places I never expected to find it. 4) Skype. 5) Sushi Dates. 6) Book Club! 7) Visits to see old friends whom I love dearly. (Tomorrow!) 8) Great books that make you keep thinking about them even after you’ve finished reading them. 9) Longer days. 10) My Mom.

Perspective*
I slept in this morning. I awoke to see the sun streaming through our window. I realized that I didn’t have to fly out of bed and get ready for work. I found an email from my professor, surprising us with a week off from my course. …and then I came here, and saw the many messages left by all of you. Thank you. I wish I had words that could adequately describe how much I appreciated everything you each wrote, but I don’t know that I have the right words to express my gratitude. In the words of the most lovely Tulip, it made me want to hug my…
