• Secret Bathrooms*

I love secret bathrooms. You know, those bathrooms that are kind of out of the way and hidden so that not many people know about them. The ones that are almost always empty and almost always spotlessly clean. I found one this year now that I’m working on the 4th floor of our library. Before I found it, I was always using the bathroom before I left for work, or leaving work a little early to use my other semi-secret bathroom on campus.

One day as I was bored at work I decided to do a little exploring around the 4th floor (as I’ve never really needed to come up here before this year) and I saw bathroom signs. Until this point I had assumed that the only washrooms in the library were the biggish ones on the bottom floor. However, I followed the signs, and there, lo and behold, was the most lovely bathroom I have found yet on campus. haha! I love it for these reasons:

    1. It’s tucked away in a corner and is not in any way obvious unless you know it’s there or are absolutely looking for a bathroom.
    2. It’s HUGE. It’s the biggest bathroom that I’ve found on campus. The mirror is massive, there’s lots of floor space, etc etc.
    3. It’s ALWAYS clean. I have never been in there and found it dirty. I don’t even think that I’ve even ever found anything on the floor.
    4. It’s almost always empty. No line-ups, no gossipy girls, etc etc.

It’s amazing. You probably think I’m silly for getting so excited about a bathroom, but when you almost live on campus like I do it’s lovely to find one so nice. I also hate going to the bathroom when there are a million people milling around. It’s just a thing. haha

Do you have a secret bathroom? If not, find one. They are lovely. :)

  • Family Day*

So today was our first Family Day, and I must say–I heart it greatly. The ONLY way it could have been better would be if it hadn’t fallen during Reading Week and would have equaled a day off school. But alas, it was not to be. *sigh*

Anyway, I started today off with a bang by sleeping in and then jumping on my little scale and learning that I’ve lost another 1.5 pounds! So I’m at a glorious 3.5 pounds lost. It doesn’t sound like much… but it’s nice to see the number getting smaller. haha! Really though, it’s amazing what you can do simply by changing your diet. I was inspired when I saw that my cousin was “jogging for Jesus” for Lent, and even though we’re not Catholic, I figured it was a decent reason to drastically cut back on my artificial sugars. So, I gave up bad food for “Lent” and it’s been working wonders! I’ll keep you posted. I’d like to lose another 8-10 to be at my ideal weight, so we’ll see what happens!

Other than that I had the laziest day I’ve had since September and DANG it felt good. I didn’t even shower until 1pm. How gross is that? haha! Since everything was closed, we stayed in, watched movies and cleaned up the apartment a bit. My house is clean and I am a happy lady.

Now then. I’m off to continue my lazy evening by falling asleep to a movie in bed. I have a meeting bright and early followed by a hair appointment in the afternoon…. oooooooh! (I’ll post pictures)

  • New Look (again)*

    So… what do you think?

I was bored tonight and decided to give my wee blog a bit of a face lift! Seeing as it’s been hideously cold here for the past few days I thought I’d go with a warmer look. :) For those who have already voted once (and perhaps twice) in my poll, I’m sorry… when I added the new template it deleted everything off and I had to start from scratch. Please vote again, and I promise it will be the last time!

So this has been this evening’s project for me. Today was pretty uneventful… we got our new freezer [our old one died… :(] and did some grocery shopping. Aside from that I’ve really taken it easy today and it has been GREAT. I am loving this wee break from the usual madness of the week.

Anyway, I’m wiped. I’m off to finish Sleepless in Seattle and fall asleep. Have a lovely evening! :)

  • Happy Valentine’s Day!

I know I’m technically a day late, but the Hubs and I had a very busy day yesterday and so decided to celebrate today instead! The Hubs bought me these beautiful flowers (I love roses), wrote me an amazing card [as he always does… :)] and has been absolutely wonderful all week. We had originally planned to go out for dinner together, but in the end we decided to stay in and make dinner together. He cooked a fabulous steak, and I handled the vegetables. It was dee-licious. After dinner we curled up on the futon and watched the first half of The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly. The Hubster has really been into Westerns lately, and I have to admit… I’m kind of loving them too. He prefers Clint Eastwood to John Wayne, and I think I have to agree. I’ll need to see some more John Wayne films to make a definite decision though.

Anyway, I’m not really into the whole Valentine’s high-dramaness, but I like to spend some time together to mark the day! I can’t believe that this was our 4th one together… holy toot. Where does time go?

I have one more cute story to share about V-day. As I mentioned earlier, yesterday was my first day in the classroom with my little grade 2’s. I went back again today and actually ended up teaching the class because the supply didn’t show up to replace the regular teacher. It was an awesome feeling… I loved it! Anyway, while I was there yesterday all the kids exchanged their Valentine’s–you remember, the decorated paper bags, the treats & Valentines for the WHOLE class, etc etc–and obviously because I was new the kids did not have Valentines for me. So while I was there today, this little sweet boy came shyly up to me, tugged on my sweater, and said:

“I felt bad that I didn’t have a Valentine for you yesterday so I made you one last night. Happy Valentine’s Day!”

Seriously. If freaking school board policies on hugging children weren’t so strict I would have scooped that little boy up in my arms. It was SO sweet. The best part was that he had heard my name wrong yesterday when the teacher announced it. And so, my Valentine read:HOW CUTE IS THAT? hahaha… I blurred out his name (obviously) but I had to leave mine as it’s really so far from my real name but it’s too funny. Grade 2, I heart you!
