The Tale of the Missing Kobo*
We are 99% moved back into our bedroom. If you feel like I’ve been talking about / doing this forever, it’s because I have. It has inadvertently facilitated a reorganization of the storage spaces in all three upstairs bedrooms, so it’s been a bit of a process. When we cleared the room we had stuff everywhere as it wouldn’t all fit in one space, and as we completely redid the closet it’s not been as simple as putting it all back where it was before. The majority of our bedroom was stuffed into the upstairs play room, but we also had piles in the basement and in the kids’ room.…

It Happened Again*
We had another eventful night. I went to bed shortly after my last post, and thanks to my friend Nyquil, I fell asleep almost immediately. I woke up around 11:30 to use the washroom, and while I was shuffling back into bed, I heard the door to the kids’ room click open. Out stumbled H, still half asleep and complaining of a sore tummy. I got him down the hall to the washroom just before he threw up. Again. He told me his tummy was a little sore before he fell asleep, but assured me he wasn’t sick. He fell asleep quickly and easily so I put it out of…

Kee-Kaw Shopping and New Drugs*
I’m feeling a little better today. I think I’ve finally found a medication that’s working, and it’s so nice to not feel like I’m coughing up one of my lungs every 5 minutes. Seriously. I’ve coughed more in the last three weeks than I have my entire life. I spent four days on Benylin with no results, but a regimen of DayQuil complete and NyQuil seems to be working. I’m sleeping better AND my head no longer feels like it’s going to explode from extreme congestion. I’m still rocking the donkey voice but I’ve just accepted that it might be permanent by this point. Today was a much needed nothing…

Please go to sleep so that I can read this book that I don’t want to read*
I’m really struggling with this month’s book club book. Our next get together is on Tuesday, and I’m not even a third of the way through yet. The worst part is that e actually read (and taught) this novel years ago… but as I don’t remember much I need to read it again. But I just can’t get into it. We’re reading The Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingsolver. I remember it took me a really, really long time to get into it last time as well, but as I also had to teach it to a class of grade 12 university bound students, I was a little more motivated to…

The post in which I “keep it real”
I was not my best self today. I can’t seem to beat this cold. I have this horrible tight cough that gets worse at night, and I’m so congested. I haven’t had my normal voice in so long that I’m actually beginning to forget what I normally sound like. This wheezy coughy donkey voice I’ve got going on is all I can remember. I’m approaching the two week mark of no real improvement, and I just don’t know when it’s time to get outside help. I don’t want to overreact to a cold, but I can’t remember the last time I was this sick for this long.. you know? I…
