Poppies, Hangry, Laundry & Giveaways*
It’s Remembrance Day today. Today we all donned our poppies, and listened to a beautiful service at our church. Shortly after 11 we stood and had a moment of silence to honor those we’ve lost and those still serving (and P only screamed out once!). I’ve loved scrolling through social media today as it’s full of tributes and stories of family members who have served, along with old grainy photographs of men and women in service uniforms. Sometimes when I see that then look at what some kids are wearing today I can’t help but shake my head a little. What can I say? I’m getting old. I felt kind…

Ladies Night*
I went out with some new friends last night. I totally fretted about what to wear, did my hair three times, and flew out the door in a hurry… only to realize that I had forgotten to put my wedding rings on when I was halfway down the street. I pulled over for a minute, debated what to do, then did a magnificent three way turn in my gigantic vanimal and went back home to get them. M found it rather hilarious. We all met at a venue I hadn’t been to in years–it’s a restaurant / lounge so it had a very different vibe than what I’ve become used…

Neon Leaves and Ladies Night*
It’s pretty gross out today. I know it’s snowing all around the GTA, but here it’s just this thick wet sleety rain that chills you to your core. I ended up walking to school this morning as I had my neigbour’s two kids here as well, and sadly my beloved vanimal is big, but not that big. So we all bundled up in this bizarre blend of rain + winter gear to try and combat both the cold and the wet, then we set out to get drenched. When P and I got home, I declared it an inside day, and we’re been holed up inside ever since. He’s now…

Rant Night: Stop Complaining*
I’m feeling a little rant-y tonight. A week or two ago, I was working at a school where I don’t have may connections. During my prep I went down to the staff room to use my time wisely (read my book) and lo and behold I found a few other lonely supply teachers there too. They were all dispersed throughout the room, so I decided to be social and strike up a conversation with one of them. I saw down at a table with a woman about my age, and we began chatting about work. We shared our work histories and war stories, then shyly compared how much work we’ve…

I Hate Fevers*
I had a little shadow today. P felt a little warm most of yesterday, and by last night he was rocking a solid fever of 102. He responded really well to the Tylenol, and within 30 minutes my wee man was playing happily until bedtime. I braced myself for a long night, but he actually slept through. Naturally, I did not. My mom brain started whirring and I kept worrying about his temp and probably went in every two hours to check on him. He felt pretty warm throughout the night, but as he was sleeping peacefully I didn’t want to wake him. I am fully aware that I am…
