    19 Weeks*

I just realized that my last post was my 18 Week update, and I just want to be clear about something: it is absolutely not my intention to turn this into a baby-mania blog. Obviously now that there is a wee one growing in my belly I will be a little more baby-centered than I have been in the past, but I don’t want to become that person that only talks about baby stuff. It’s just been a crazy week. I actually had every intention of writing something about 9/11 yesterday, but then… I just didn’t want to go there. It affected me, but not in a personal way like…

    18 Weeks*

(Please excuse my little house shoes–it’s so cold here today!) How Far Along: 18 Weeks* Size of Baby: Sweet Potato Weight Gain: 5 pounds Movement: Nothing yet! Cravings: Still nothing weird or exciting. Sugar is more appetizing to me again, and I often want something salty like chips or crackers. Food Aversions: Nothing to report this week. :) Symptoms: Still having some headaches, and Saturday brought on the worst one I’ve had yet. I’m hoping it’s connected to all the drastic weather changes we’ve had lately! I haven’t had one since then which is positively lovely. My hips are still sore from time to time, but I haven’t noticed them…

    I Finally Read Harry Potter*

Due to baby-induced nausea, I spent much of July trying to be as immobile as possible. So, I decided it was a good time to tackle a project I have long debated undertaking: reading Harry Potter. And I did. All seven. …in three weeks. Everyone I know is a Harry Potter fanatic. Not in a bad sense, but they all seem to be crazy about the books. I have lonnnnnng been encouraged to read them, but they just never appealed to me. When I gave that response in regards to Harry Potter and why I hadn’t read them, the inevitable question follows: “So, what do you like to read then?”…

    The Best Intentions*

Ah, it was a summer of good intentions. As the school year wound down last year, I made such big plans for the summer. Write every day! Work on my book! Tackle a bajillion house projects! Decorate everything! Buy new dresses! Read every day! Run a race! …but I got pregnant instead. :) It has been the laziest, most relaxing two months I’ve had in years. And I needed them. July was spent laying in bed or on the couch most of the day, trying to ward off waves of nausea with gingerale and crackers. All those house projects I wanted to do (remove wallpaper, paint downstairs bathroom, scrape paint…

    17 Weeks*

When I first announced that I was pregnant almost a month ago, I promised that I would write a post explaining why we waited so long to tell everyone. And I did. …but I didn’t post it. The first three months of my pregnancy were… hard. I was physically exhausted and dealing with bouts of nausea, but I was also on a bit of an emotional roller coaster.  I’m sure the raging hormones contributed to the way I was feeling, but it was also like the weight of 6 years worth of the “When are you going to have a baby?!?” questions we’ve received from friends and family suddenly rested…
