    Life is Good*

Well, it’s been an exciting few days! For starters, I’m back to work. It’s taken me a week to get into the swing of things again, and I love my new schedule. Instead waking up at 5:30am to rush out the door with Ruby by 7:10, I now have an extra three hours in the morning as I don’t leave until 10:15. It means I can enjoy a leisurely breakfast with my family, have a snuggle with my sweet girl, tidy the house a bit and prepare for my day before I head out the door. It’s wonderful to be back in my old department, and my classes are small…

    A Heartbeat and an Interview*

This has been a very exciting week. On Tuesday, the Hubster and I celebrated our 8th wedding anniversary and actually got out on a date! It was lovely. I also was finally able to see my midwife (Olivia) this week. After bumped appointments and a long wait, Ruby and finally made it into her office. After catching up on Ruby’s progress in the last 18 months, we quickly reviewed my medical history and pregnancy thus far. Then it was finally time to hear the heartbeat. I always feel like I’m holding my breath until I hear that steady thump, thump, thump. Thankfully, this peanut was much more cooperative than the…

    Waiting to Exhale*

So, I’m pregnant. :) (Yay!) After having such a positive experience with midwives last time, there was absolutely no question in my mind that I wanted to go that route again. (And hopefully avoid another induction if possible.) I was thrilled when they told me that I would most likely be able to have Olivia present at my birth again. Midwives take several weeks off all at once to compensate for their crazy schedules, and Olivia’s holidays end four days before my due date. It was enough of a window that she was happy to work with me, but close enough that the practice is assigning me dual primary care,…

    The Wee-Bean: 18 Months*

My lovelies, time is going by much too fast. This morning my “small” little bean is officially a year and a half old. …what?! I hear myself telling people that, and it always makes me pause. How on earth did we get here already? Who is this big, beautiful kid running around my house? It’s been a little while since I’ve done one of these, so I thought I’d tell you all about my growing wee-bean at 18 months. :) I won’t find out her exact height / weight until her appointment on Friday, but I think she weighs around 25lbs and is right on track for her age. She loves…

    Silence Isn’t Always Golden*

I’m learning that being a parent of an almost toddler is completely different from being a parent of a newborn. Ruby is hilarious right now. She is so bright and inquisitive, she absolutely loves to play. In the past week she has taken huge strides in learning how to play independently, which has given me just another piece of my independence back. She’s sleeping better and eating well–life is pretty wonderful where she is concerned. As I enter each new phase of parenthood, I continue to learn new lessons along the way. Right now I’m having a love / hate relationship with one particular thing: silence. For months on end that…
