    I Heart My Ghetto*

Ugggggggggh… this week has sucked SO bad. On Monday I handed in a 15 page research paper about Nazi medical research. On Tuesday I had a presentation. On Wednesday I had homework and a French composition due. And today I had a big research presentation in one of my 4th year classes. Couple all of that with other readings, housework, putting in hours at both of my jobs (my grade 2s were OUT OF CONTROL today… not to mention they all have the flu and I think have made me sick) and you have one very, very, very tired Shop Girl. I’m so tired I might die. *sigh* At least…

    Family Day*

So today was our first Family Day, and I must say–I heart it greatly. The ONLY way it could have been better would be if it hadn’t fallen during Reading Week and would have equaled a day off school. But alas, it was not to be. *sigh* Anyway, I started today off with a bang by sleeping in and then jumping on my little scale and learning that I’ve lost another 1.5 pounds! So I’m at a glorious 3.5 pounds lost. It doesn’t sound like much… but it’s nice to see the number getting smaller. haha! Really though, it’s amazing what you can do simply by changing your diet. I…

    Happy Valentine’s Day!

I know I’m technically a day late, but the Hubs and I had a very busy day yesterday and so decided to celebrate today instead! The Hubs bought me these beautiful flowers (I love roses), wrote me an amazing card [as he always does… :)] and has been absolutely wonderful all week. We had originally planned to go out for dinner together, but in the end we decided to stay in and make dinner together. He cooked a fabulous steak, and I handled the vegetables. It was dee-licious. After dinner we curled up on the futon and watched the first half of The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly. The…

    I love Grade 2*

Today was my first real day in the classroom as a literacy/numeracy tutor. Last year my job was a little different, I was teaching 6 students at a time a separate curriculum heavily based on literacy skills in a separate classroom and had very little interaction with the teachers or other students. However, THIS year I am right in the class and am somewhat of a student teacher! I was a little apprehensive when I learned that I would be working in a grade 2 classroom as I prefer working with older students, but after my experience today I am 90% converted. I now see why so many people apply…

    New Day*

Well, Monday was a crappy day. After I wrote that post I had a good cry and the Hubs held me and talked me through my stress-I-hate-school-cry and watched a movie with me until I was too tired to even stay awake anymore. Have I mentioned how much I adore my husband? Yesterday was much better. I decided to break from the ordinary and spend a day OFF campus. It was wonderful. I also started my first day teaching again. I met with my principal yesterday at 1pm to discuss my new teaching position and am SO happy to report that I actually got matched with the teacher I was…
