Addicted to Mormon Mommy Blogs*
I’ve started a new photo album on my Facebook page for my thrift store adventures! I’ll post photos of me wearing my finds there! I wore my new Steve Madden boots to church today and took a photo before we ran out the door this morning. Become a fan and check them out here: Shop Girl* Last night I found an amazing article about a young, feminist atheist who is addicted to Mormon Mommy Blogs. It’s hilarious, provocative and thoughtful, and as I am a “Mormon Blogger” myself, I absolutely loved it. Trust me, it’s worth a read. Why I can’t stop reading Mormon housewife blogs I’m a young, feminist atheist who…

30 Day Challenge – Day 1*
Every so often, a new facebook meme starts up and 75% of the people on my personal list start following whatever it is. So my news feeds is inundated with notes, photos and status updates fulfilling whatever the new meme has demanded of us. I’ve resisted for the most part. I ignored all the breast cancer status update gimics. No one on my list knows what color of bra I’m wearing or where I put my purse. I also ignored the doppleganger photo thing. And, until now, I’ve ignored the 30 Day Facebook Challenge. It was all the rage a little while ago, and it was actually kind of neat…

Dear Blank, Please Blank*
Today one of my students asked me if I lived under a rock. As my students completed the assignment they were working on, their computer screens began wandering to a variety of different websites and games. Most were playing QWOP, a new obsession I see in every computer lab I teach in. Others were looking at prom dresses, and one group of students were reading a website and laughing hysterically. I try to be extra observant when students have free time on the computers, just so I can make sure they aren’t doing something completely inappropriate online. When I heard the laughter, I made my way over to see what…

Thrifty Thursdays*
On the weekend I mentioned the possibility of beginning a weekly segment about my Thrift Store adventures. Maggie, the fabulous voice behind Mummy Maggie Chronicles, is starting her own thrifting segment on Thursdays, so I thought that I’d borrow her idea and do the same! While she is focusing more on her unbelievable furniture finds, I’m going to begin showcasing some of the clothes and shoes I’ve found since I started hunting. Now, I get it– thrift shopping grosses a lot of people out. The idea of owning or wearing something that hasn’t always belonged to you (and not knowing where it came from) makes people nervous. I am the…

Still Tired*
Well, I’m happy to report that I’m feeling a little more alive today. I slept terribly last night and woke up feeling exhausted, so I was a bit worried that my day at work wouldn’t go well. I could barely keep my eyes open while I got ready, but I’ve been walking to work the last two days and the cold was so shocking that I came to life in a hurry. The weather this morning was absolutely unbelievable. It started snowing sometime last night and we woke up to a winter wonderland, complete with messy, terrible road conditions. I bundled up and made my way to work, only to…
