    The Booze Buster*

As I mentioned yesterday, last night I chaperoned my first high school dance. It was… magical. (Magical is my word for when there are no words. It just seems appropriate. haha) A friend of mine is actually at the same school as I am for placement, although she is in the high school division and I am working in intermediate. She was asked to chaperone the dance and I volunteered to as well. I wasn’t exactly sure what to expect… when I was in high school in northern Ontario many moons ago, everyone went to dances. There wasn’t much else to do in the community, (not to mention it was…

    Befunky*

I just got home from chaperoning my first high school dance (where I TOTALLY got to bust a kid for something… more on this later) but you are going to have to wait until tomorrow to hear about it. I’m still sickish, I’m exhausted, and I still have a ton of lesson-planning to do. My AT is away tomorrow, so I will be teaching for the bulk of the day with a supply teacher to assist me, if needed. SO, that means I need to be super prepared so the kids won’t eat me alive tomorrow. Eek! However, as I cannot post all the glorious teenage bum-grabbing-slow-dancing I witnessed until…

    Oh Puberty, Where Art thou?

As you know, I am currently teaching a grade 7 class. I had a really good day today–for the first time since entering their class I finally felt like a real teacher and not some random lady with big hair who has invaded their classroom. They turn to me for help, and they are also beginning to let me get to know them and are sharing their work and interests with me. It’s pretty cool. It also means that we are becoming “closer” as they accept me as their teacher… but also proximity wise as I often sit with them to assist them in math (…ha) or whatever they are…

    Thinking Warm Thoughts*

Well, I’m still alive. I survived last night, and even managed to get through another day of school. I’m less “achy” today, but my head feels so heavy I’m pretty sure it was replaced with a bowling ball as I slept last night. haha! Anyway, no more complaining. I’m hoping that I’m on the mend and that after another good night’s sleep (and more lovely lovely anti-cold drugs) that I’ll be good as new tomorrow. *fingers crossed* It also helps that I have something warm to look forward to–the Hubster and I are planning to head south with my family in a few weeks! We are off to sunny Kissimmee,…

    The Sickness*

Ugggggggggggggggggggggghhh. That pretty much sums up the way I’m feeling right about now. I’ve known the sickness was coming for several days now… by last Wednesday I couldn’t get warm no matter how hard I tried, even though the Hubster was sweating to death in our little heat-controlled senior’s apartment. By Saturday my muscles were achy and sore. I did everything I could to try and prevent it–I slept a lot, drank a lot, ate fruit and veggies, and even ate a grown up vitamin! (I don’t like grown up vitamins because they are big and hard to swallow… so the Hubster buys me children’s Flintstone vitamins instead. haha!) Well,…
