The Tale of the Missing Kobo*
We are 99% moved back into our bedroom. If you feel like I’ve been talking about / doing this forever, it’s because I have. It has inadvertently facilitated a reorganization of the storage spaces in all three upstairs bedrooms, so it’s been a bit of a process. When we cleared the room we had stuff everywhere as it wouldn’t all fit in one space, and as we completely redid the closet it’s not been as simple as putting it all back where it was before. The majority of our bedroom was stuffed into the upstairs play room, but we also had piles in the basement and in the kids’ room.…

Book Club: A Mother’s Reckoning
About a year ago, I found a Facebook group specifically for my area of the city we live in. I joined as I thought it would be a good way to keep up with what’s going on around me, and hopefully meet some people in my community. It’s now huge and basically full of people gossiping about why there are occasionally helicopters flying overhead, but it has been useful. You all know of my eternal search for a good book club. I’ve been in two or three over the years, and each one has eventually ended due to scheduling conflicts, dwindling attendance each month and a host of other reasons.…

A New Home*
It’s been almost two weeks since I last wrote, and as you can see, a few things have changed since then. If you follow me on Instagram and saw the Story I posted last week then you might know most of what happened, but I know I was a bit vague on Facebook and I basically just took down my old blog without warning. Without getting into too much detail, I had some security concerns with my old blog and decided it was time for a change. I wanted so desperately to write everything I was feeling, but for the first time I didn’t feel like I could… and I…

It’s Finally Over*
Last May, the Hubster and I sat down and began discussing what to do about my impending return to work. My maternity leave officially ended in July of 2017, but for the first time I just didn’t feel ready to go back to work. I was raring to get back after both Ruby and Hank, but things were different after Will. I was just barely coming up for air from my Post Partum Anxiety, sleep was non-existent and I was in pretty much non-stop pain from my back and hip issues. With my job, I have the option to extend my leave for one year (unpaid) without losing my seniority,…

That Time I Carried a Desk Up a Flight of Stairs by Myself*
I AM SO EXCITED. I have long been lamenting the fact that I don’t have a proper space to sit down and write. I have a laptop, so technically I can write anywhere, but I have really missed having a desk. Three years ago I sold my big desk from my student days to make room for Ruby’s nursery. I didn’t mind as I certainly didn’t need such a big desk anymore, and I downsized to a smaller table-style desk once I started teaching again. It was in my living room, but as we then needed the extra space for Ruby’s play corner and I was trying to do most…
