    Résumé Ridiculousness*

Sweet mother of pearl, today was so long. I left for school at 9am, and didn’t get home until nearly 8pm. I am tiiiiired. I don’t start class until 1pm on Thursdays, but one of the heads of the program was offering a résumé writing workshop this morning. I had absolutely no intention of going until late last night when the Hubster suggested it might be useful, so I stayed up until 1am making a draft of an education résumé, then woke up at 7am to get ready to go. Surprisingly the workshop wasn’t a total waste this time–they offered a similar one in October where they told us nothing–I…

    Snow Day*

Sometimes I think Hippie U is just out to spite us. I woke up this morning to an absolute winter wonderland–there was a foot of snow on the ground and huge flakes of snow were swirling down from the sky. When I saw how much snow was coming down, I thought, “Surely today must be a snow day!” Sure enough, when I checked the website that monitors weather conditions for the local public and catholic school boards, I saw that every single elementary and high school in the region had closed for the day. So, I couldn’t help but wonder… would Hippie U do the right thing and close down…

    Just a Lil Somethin’

Well, as you can see, I have a new background! I had been changing it up often throughout the holidays to keep things fun, but I think I’ll keep this one for a little while. Thoughts? I’m not quite done playing with the colors, but I think I like it! haha! Today I felt very… productive. I’ve been putting the agenda the Hubster bought me for Christmas to good use and had a full day of tying up loose ends. I paid some outstanding fees, made a doctor’s appointment, handed in some forms, and received my last ever installment of OSAP. It was kind of funny to think about—the end…

I Like To Dance Which Means I Can’t Teach*

Ever since I started my Educational Law course in November I have found it to be almost completely useless. Today was the first time that I learned anything remotely interesting—I learned that if I had lived 100 years ago and had wanted to teach, I would not have been able to. …what the heck?! Surprisingly enough, it was not explicitly because I am a woman, as in those days teaching was a considered a feminine profession. There were very few male teachers, and even though there has been a shift in the last century, the profession is dominated by women. I wouldn’t have been able to teach because I am…

    Chapter Twelve* The Wedding Eve

I know I wrote another chapter only yesterday, but it was really just a catch-up chapter to get me to where I wanted to be–right here. The night before our wedding. If you missed yesterday’s post (Chapter Eleven* The Day Before The Wedding) you may want to read that first before reading this one. Friday, August 19th, 2005 As we finished setting up the hall for the reception the whole thing just seemed really surreal to me. Maybe it was because I was so overtired, or because I hadn’t seen the soon-to-be-Hubster in days, but in many ways it hadn’t set in that all the fuss was for me… like…
