Sandal Love*
My dearest lovelies, do you know what’s happening outside right now? (well, not RIGHT now as right now it’s pouring rain whilst my bush-man of a Hubster is out hunting turkeys in the bush and I’m trying desperately not to worry needlessly about him but it’s RAINING and who wants to be caught in the bush in THAT?! End rant.) The grass is green. Leaves are slowly appearing on the trees. I’m seeing more t-shirts than I am parkas, and best of all–SANDALS. Sandal time is seriously my favourite season of all. I’ve given up calling April – June “spring”. In my house it’s Fall, Winter, Sandals and Summer. (I…

Big Birthdays*
I really wanted to write this yesterday, but I was so tired by 4pm that I went to take a 10 minute nap… and slept for nearly an hour and a half. Then the Hubster and I went on a date night to see Date Night (more on this later) and it was just late when I got home. There really aren’t enough hours in the day. Anyway. I’m not usually one to make a big fuss about my birthday. In recent years the Hubster and I have just celebrated together by spending the day together and going out for dinner. He always buys me beautiful flowers and a thoughtful…

Strike A Pose*
I have a confession: Sue Sylvester rocks my world. If you are not yet watching Glee, oh… YOU DON’T EVEN KNOW WHAT YOU’RE MISSING! I’m convinced it’s the best show on TV right now, especially after my beloved Ugly Betty gave it’s last performance last week. *tear Anyway. I could rave and rave about how glorious Glee is, or I could just let you see for yourself. This week was a tribute to Madonna, and my favourite character did an AMAZING remake of her Vogue video in the episode. I thought it was pretty close when I watched the show, but when I found this video playing the two side…

Two Teachers– Too Far?
I actually first heard about this a while ago, but I wasn’t writing much at the time so I read it, ranted to the Hubster about how much it bothered me, then forgot about it. Yesterday I found it again, and still felt the uncontrollable urge to rant and vent after seeing it (again) so I thought I’d share it with you and get your take on it. I am a teacher. I love teaching. I like to think that this profession chose me instead of the other way around which makes me feel just a little less dismal about the whole there-are-absolutely-no-jobs-in-the-greater-Toronto-area bit. Because I mean really, what choice…

20SB Blog Swap 5 – “Well, that was Easy!”
Hey blogosphere! It’s the 20SB Blog Swap Day! This is Phampants here. I’m partnered up with Shop Girl who happens to be a teacher like myself. So for this swap day, we’re going to treat you with our awesome stories about being a teacher. First I’m going to share you one of my favorite stories during my teaching days. Once you finish reading mine, go check out Shop Girl’s post on my blog. The first class I ever taught was seniors. Let’s just say this; there was basically no age difference between them and me. They saw me as one of them; and so, they expected me to be a…
