Back to Work*

What a day.

I woke up thinking it would be a nice, quiet day… but it turned out to be rather busy.

You see, I haven’t worked in the last 10 days. It was exam week for high school students so there was no work to be had. As semester two just started on Thursday (it was a delayed by a day because of the Snowverkill), I really didn’t expect to work again today. I made plans to have lunch with a friend, threw some laundry on and spent a leisurely morning catching up on my shows and mending some clothes.

Shortly after 10am I got a call asking if I could go in to work that afternoon. The school was a 30 minute drive away, and I would have to leave in less than an hour.

I had also just put my laundry in the dryer. Which takes just under an hour.

I sadly canceled my lunch–it was with a friend I haven’t seen in almost two years and we’ve been trying for weeks to get together. I really thought today was going to be our day, but  no. The universe had other plans.

My heart was sad. (But my wallet is glad.)

I changed into “teacher clothes” and quickly packed my “teacher bag” to get ready to go. My laundry finished just in time and I was able to run out the door.

It was a great first day back at work–I got to teach at a school where a friend of mine works. The kids were fab and she popped in for a visit while I taught.

After work the Hubster and I made a last minute decision to take a drive to do some shopping and visit my parents. I found two lovely sweaters on clearance at Costa Blanca that I am SO excited about, and he picked up some man things at Bass Pro.

And now, I’m curled up in bed with my little netbook. The Hubster is putting his things together to go hunting at first light, and I plan to sleep in all the way to 8am. Seriously. That will be magical.

Time for bed, my lovelies. Sorry for the lame post… but my day was so much busier than I expected. I will be back with magic tomorrow!
