The Flu*

It’s official: I have the flu.

Thankfully it’s not the “coming-out-of-both-ends” flu, but rather just a no-appetite, constant nausea, hot / cold flashes, achy bones, lethargic flu.

It hit me like a truck at 9pm last night. I had been flying around the apartment trying to organize our moving mess, and I stopped when the Hubster got home from work. We sat down on the couch together then BAM! It was like the flu sucker punched me in the gut. I felt so awful so fast that I actually started crying and curled up into the fetal position with a ginger ale before calling it at night at 10pm.

Oh, if only I had slept…

I woke up at 1:15, then 2, then 2:30, then 3, then 3:30… allllll the way until my alarm went off at 6:08 am. I was nauseous, exhausted and every bone and muscle in my body ached. I crawled across the apartment and called in sick at 6:20am.  Then I crawled back into bed and was able to sleep until 9am.

For the rest of the day I’ve been glued to my couch and my bed. Until 4pm, I could only stand up for about 5 minutes at a time before feeling completely drained. I lived on Ginger ale, apple juice and chicken noodle soup, which my loving Hubster made trips to the store to get for me.

By 6pm I was beginning to feel a bit better, and I actually feel somewhat human now. I had a long soak in the tub and am just getting ready to crawl back into bed, hopefully for a better sleep than I had last night.

I’m praying that this will be gone by tomorrow–I got a call to work tomorrow afternoon and I’d really like to make it in.

Does anyone have any miracle remedies to get rid of the flu?
