Rubber Boot Running*
Every day I pack up the kids and make the hike down the road to get Ruby to and from school. It’s basically a straight shot up the street from here to her school, so on the way home we can see our house from quite a distance. I thought I’d provide you with a little entertainment today. At 3:20pm yesterday I got the boys dressed and we started off on our walk to go pick up Ruby. I usually check the mail on the way there, but yesterday the box was empty. I figured maybe there just wasn’t any mail that day. We made it to the school and…

Closed*
I’m trying to be a bit braver about taking the two boys out on my own. We’ve done a lot of hibernating these past few months because Will is, …well, Will and is a bit of a delightful handful even at the best of times. Things are starting to get a bit easier (and my mom guilt about depriving Hank of experiences outside of my house reached maximum levels) so I’m venturing out a bit more. I have a few locations on my “safe for Will” list (meaning they are contained, not super busy, and there are few things on which he can climb / conquer / injure himself). We…

Quarantined*
This has been a long, hard week for me. I’ve talked a little bit about it on Facebook and Instagram, but I can’t remember a time when I’ve had so much sickness roll through my house. It started last Friday night.. my beautiful weebean went to bed right as rain, and woke up at midnight sick as a dog. I can deal with a lot as a parent without batting an eye… but I reaaaally struggle with vomit. I have to steel my nerves and go to the dark place to handle it. Then the fever + not wanting to eat for DAYS started, which left me a stressed out…

It’s All Coming Back to me Now*
A little over a year ago, I hurt my back somehow. I don’t remember exactly what I did, I just remember that one of my hips looked higher than the other and I had some pretty intense pain for a few days. I rested and saw my chiropractor, and it gradually subsided and all was well again. Or so I thought. That pain began to recur with increasing frequency over the next few months. Each time my right hip would hike up several inches and, and as a result I had trouble walking, bending, lifting, rolling over in bed and just moving in general. Sometimes the pain wouldn’t be too…

The Summer of Dreams*
This is what I’ve been calling the last three months of my life–the summer of dreams. This summer (and subsequent “Sumtember”) has been everything I needed after a long, hard year. In my last post I decided to get real and share my struggles with post partum anxiety with you. I was SO scared to publish that post, but the response from my family and friends was overwhelming. It started a conversation about PPA that needed to be had, and I had several friends message me to tell me that they had been quietly struggling with it too. Finally giving my demons a name and acknowledging my struggle with PPA…
