My thoughts*

Snowmaggedon*

Snow, snow, snow, snow, snooowwwww! (Watch the above video. That sounds much  better in harmony.)

It’s all I’ve heard about for the last 24 hours, and the storm dubbed “Snowmaggedon” and “Snowpocalypse” by the Toronto Star has yet to make it’s grand appearance in Ontario. I’ve been watching it travel north all day–my friend in Illinois is stuck at work as they’ve already received 8 inches where he is–and it’s supposed to hit Toronto some time tonight.

I have to admit, I’m a little excited. They are saying this storm is the biggest storm that we’ll have seen in a long, long time and I hope it doesn’t disappoint. I’m expecting big, swirling snowflakes–the kind that dance in the streetlights and cover the whole world in a blanket of white.

Mind you, when it’s time to drive to work tomorrow morning I’m sure I’ll be singing a different tune… but I’ll enjoy it for tonight.

This has been the “winter-y-est” winter I’ve experienced in ages. I lived through some pretty wild weather extremes when we lived up in the Great White North, but since moving to Southern Ontario my winters have been pretty mild.

We barely even had any snow in Pretty City last year, and I’m pretty sure I only had to drag out my big winter parka once or twice as it was so mild. This January was a completely different experience. The temperatures have sat below -20°C for days before giving us a slight reprieve… then dove down again. There has been a ton of snow, and driving conditions have been terrible on more than one occasion.

I feel like I’m back in Northern Ontario.

So, for now… I’m writing my  post now in case we lose power and I have a lovely Spicy Chicken & Sausage soup cooking in my crock pot. The Hubster and I were going to go see a movie, but I think we’ll just wait and see what mother nature has in store for us. I don’t know if this big storm will hit us, but if it does–I’m ready. Just let me make some popcorn before the lights go out, okay?

In other news, I’m almost done day one of my sugar & yeast free diet. I’m tired, cranky and my body is having psycho sugar cravings, but so far so good. I remember that the first day was the hardest last time, so hopefully tomorrow will be better.

Stay warm, lovelies!

I’m jealous! We got maybe 1/2 an inch here in western Oregon. It’s hardly even felt like winter this year! Have fun being snowed in and i hope you stay safe and warm!!
