NEWS FLASH*
Well… I have some bad news…
It looks like all of you won’t be hearing about my experiences at River City U next year.
…BECAUSE I WAS FINALLY ACCEPTED AT HIPPIE U!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AHHHHH!!!!! *insert insanely happy dance involving bananas here*
Okay. Here’s the story: you all know that I have been fighting with the teacher’s college for some time trying to find out why I was not initially accepted and to try and get a spot there. Every where I went I hit a brick wall and could get no answers. About two weeks ago we exhausted our last option and were told that I would not be accepted and should proceed with my acceptance to River City U. So I did. I started making arrangements to find a place to live, completed my course selection, and made the necessary doctor’s appointments.
With my “no” answer that I received I was told to continue emailing my contact in the registrar’s office every couple of weeks to check on the status of my application as there was still a slim possibility that I could be accepted later in the summer. I honestly didn’t believe that I had a chance after all the hoops I had already jumped through, but I decided to fire off an email last Friday to see what I could find out.
I checked my email about every 3 hours every day since. Nothing. I took that as another no.
This morning was my convocation ceremony (to which I will devote an entire post a little later) and the man from the registrar’s office was there helping all the graduates set up. I knew he had seen me while he was running around setting up, but he didn’t say anything so I took that as a “no”.
As we were lining up to proceed to the podium to graduate he walked down my line, saw me, and called me over to where he was standing.
Registrar Man: “Shop Girl! Can I speak with you?”
I took the solemn expression on his face to mean that he was about to give me another “no”.
Registrar Man: “I’m so sorry that I haven’t been able to respond to your email… it’s been really hectic with the graduation this week.”
I thought: excuses, excuses…
Me: “Oh, I understand. It must be crazy in the office.”
Registrar Man: “It really is… but I wanted to find you and I’m delighted to inform you that you will be offered admission to the Consecutive Education program in the Intermediate/Senior division. Congratulations!”
Me: “Are you kidding me? Is this a joke?”
Registrar Man: starts laughing “No, this is absolutely not a joke. You’re in!”
Me: “In I/S? Full-time? 100%????”
Registrar Man: “In the program you wanted. It’s 100% sure! You’ll receive your registration package in the mail this week to make it official.”
Me: SCREAMS and starts jumping “ARE YOU SERIOUS???”
Registrar Man: “I am serious!!!”
Me: dancing in the convocation line up while the other graduates start laughing at me “THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!! I could HUG you!!!!”
Registrar Man: “..uh, thanks. Congratulations again! Would you like to call the Hubster??” *pulls out his blackberry* “You can use my phone!”
I thanked him again, but pulled out my own and called the Hubster and my parents. My mom started screaming and jumping for joy. haha! At this point I started telling every person I saw and ran to tell François.
The Hubster and I don’t have to be separated next year… there are no words to express my relief, gratitude and happiness. :) Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers… I GOT IN!!!!! :)
Much love,
Shop Girl*
