One Month Later*
Hi again. :)
It has been a very busy few weeks, and I am thrilled to finally have a few minutes to sit down and write. Right now I am curled up on the couch in my cozy little house while a snow storm rages outside.
And by “curled up” I obviously mean “sprawled out” since my very pregnant belly prevents me from curling up in any shape or fashion. haha
It feels nice to relax a little and not have to worry about anything. Friday was my last day of work and I am officially on maternity leave. It was a long, busy final month of work, but as my last day drew closer I found myself facing it with some mixed feelings. I love the school I’ve been teaching at, but since I was only working there on an occasional contract, there is no guarantee there will be an opening for me in the future. Now, as I begin a year at home with my wee ones, I find that my excitement is tinged with just a little sadness. I can honestly say that I will miss teaching, and I hope that I land in a classroom again someday. :)
I am excited to be able to spend more time at home, though. While we were so fortunate to find amazing daycare for Ruby while I worked, it was hard being away from her. She is our little ray of sunshine and she is growing up so fast. Her vocabulary is expanding like crazy and every day she comes out with something new to make us laugh. The Hubster and I are both in a bit of denial that she is turning two this month. She is the happiest, silliest kid in the world and I hope to have a little more time to share some of her escapades here.
And then, of course, our little peanut is due to arrive at some point this month… though I’m not entirely sure when. I’ve always been a little up in the air about my due date, and in my ultrasound a few weeks ago, I received some interesting news. According to my measurements, the ultrasound shows that I’m actually three weeks further along than I thought.
If you do the math, that puts my due date on… Monday. As in, two sleeps from now.
Now then. I know that early ultrasounds are always more accurate and reliable, which is why my midwives have decided to stick with my original due date of February 24th. I like the sound of that one better, but I can’t shake this feeling that this little man will make his debut a little earlier.
But here’s where things get tricky: my favourite midwife (Olivia) is off on her leave until February 19th. So, I will be doing my darndest to hold this wee one inside until she is back! Keep your fingers crossed for me!
I’m really hoping to spend the next few weeks cleaning and organizing my house, getting things ready for the baby, and spending some time with Ruby. The Hubster has been working like crazy to finish the office / spare room in the basement, and it is SO close to completion. I’ve been taking pictures of his progress, and I can’t wait to show you the final product!
There are eight billion things I want to do in the next three weeks, here’s hoping I get through a few of them! Sorry I took such an extended absence (again). :)
