Thrifty Thursday – Shrug Sweaters*
So, I didn’t get the job.
…but let’s not talk about that. It’s Thursday! Hooray!
I’ve barely had any time to go out thrift shopping in the last few weeks, and it makes me very sad. The roller coaster that is my life keeps hurtling forward at a breakneck speeds and it’s all I can do to hang on and not fall off.
But at least I can look good while doing it. ;)
My lovelies, I’ve developed a love for “shrug sweaters”. I’m not even sure if that’s the correct name for them, but when I think of them that’s what I think (and that’s also what google tells me). As it’s been a rather chilly winter, I found myself reaching for the same sweaters again and again as I braved sub zero temperatures inside the classroom. I quickly got bored of the same outfits and decided it was time to expand beyond the beloved cardigans that have always hung in my closet.
During one thrift store adventure I decided to browse through the sweater section and see what I could find. I spotted this and while it took me a minute to figure out how to put it on, I loved it immediately:
Paired with a white long-sleeved shirt and a long brown beaded necklace, it keeps me cozy and doesn’t make me look like an old lady teacher. I love.
Once I figured out how to wear the dang thing it quickly became a staple in my wardrobe. So, I went out and found another.
…and another.
…and then maybe one more.
I KNOW. I can’t help it. I love the way they look, AND I’m adding some color to my neutral wardrobe! Magic!
Now here’s the best part:
Brown – $4 @ Value Village
Green – $2.50 @ Goodwill
Red – $5 @ Value Village
Pink – $3 @ Value Village
Four sweaters for less than $15?? Yes please!

Now then: I’ve had a few friends leave me little messages on Facebook about cool thrifted deals they’ve found recently, and I am loving this. If you’ve bought something recently, let me know!! Or better yet, take a photo and send it my way. Thanks dears!

My condolences about the job. And shrug sweaters. I just don’t get them.
