About*

My Dad has this perpetually optimistic and happy attitude. It often drove me crazy as a kid, but it has always been something I’ve admired. If you know my dad at all, you’ve probably heard him say his now famous catch-phrase: Life is Good. As I’ve gotten older, I often find myself thinking about this small saying and the impact it can have. Life isn’t always easy, but when we choose to look for it, we can always find the good.

I am a 35-year-old writer / teacher living in beautiful Ontario, Canada. I grew up in the Great White North, and even though I currently live in the GTA, the North will always feel like home. I came south and married a “city boy” who stole my heart the first time I met him. After a quick whirlwind romance, we’re now oldyweds of 15 years, and he is my eternal support, rock, best friend and love of my life. We have three little toads who keep us laughing (and sometimes crying) all day long. Becoming parents has been our greatest adventure yet, and while it sometimes has us pulling our hair out, we love life with S, H & P, and are very excited to announce that Baby #4 will be joining us in May! You will probably notice that full names are not used anywhere on my blog, and I would appreciate your support in helping me stay free of the all-knowing being that is Google.

For the last ten years I’ve slowly been working my way through the ranks as an occasional teacher here in Southern Ontario. It has been a long, tough road, but teaching is my passion and I feel so blessed to love what I do.

I’ve been writing in one form or another all of my life, but the last 14 years of my life has been poured into my blog. I’ve changed a lot from who I was when I began in 2007… back then I was a newly married, shoe-obsessed university student who had absolutely no idea what to do with her life. To be honest, I feel like I’m still figuring that out. This place is where I have documented that journey, as well as other random tidbits of my life along the way. I try hard to “keep it real”; to be honest about the good, the bad and the ugly. To share my joys as well as my hardships as life keeps rolling along.

Life is full and sometimes overwhelming, but in those moments when the kids are yelling and I look around my house and all I see are the never-ending lists of things I need to do, I try to pause, take a deep breath and remember: Life is Good. It’s not always easy, but it’s so full of love. The joy is there when we look for it.

It’s a good life… and I’m so glad it’s mine. xox
