A Day In The Life…
Tonight I’m writing my first official “I’m writing in my blog to procrastinate work” post for the 2008 – 2009 school year. WOOOOO! haha
I know that you all know that I’m in teacher’s college because I talk about it constantly, but I thought I’d give you a little snapshot into the day of an I/S (Intermediate / Senior) teacher candidate:
5:44am – Alarm goes off
5:47am – Roll out of bed without waking the Hubster
5:48am – Sit at my desk attempting to adjust my eyes to the light. (Yes, I wake before it is even light outside. How gross is that?)
5:50am – Jump (not literally, it’s more of a trudge) into shower.
6:00am – Dry off and sit blankly at my desk.
6:03am – Begin getting ready
6:43am – Have made myself look somewhat human and eat a quick bowl of All-Bran Bites while throwing crap into my bags (Remember: Fibre is your friend! haha)
6:58am – Kiss the Hubs on the forehead while he sleeps to say goodbye, wave as he groggily tells me he loves me and run out the door to catch my bus.
7:04am – Get on the bus and chat with my sweet little Italian bus driver. :)
7:50am – Arrive at school, head to class.
8:00 – 10:00am – Class. Learning. Yada yada.
10:00 – 12:00pm – Catch up on readings for my next class, answer emails, nap, eat lunch.
12:00 – 2:00pm – Class. Discuss. Grow our minds. Blah blah.
2:00 – 4:00pm – More readings. Make notes. Maybe formulate ideas for an upcoming assignment. Snack.
4:00 – 6:00pm – Class. Write. Expand. Bleeeeeeeeh.
6:00pm – Catch bus
6:40pm – Arrive home to see my Hubs (awake) for the first time that day.
7:00pm – Have a quick dinner, then both of us hit the books reading / studying for the next day.
10:30 – 11:30pm – Get ready for bed, fall onto bed exhausted, asleep in about 3 seconds.
…and that’s my day. :) It’s a beauty, ain’t it? So, needless to say, I hardly get to see my Hubs, I’m chronically tired all the time and don’t have a lot of down time. It’s good thing I love my program or I might go nuts right about… now. haha!
Right now I’m working on a mini-teaching assignment. For my practicum course tomorrow my professor wants us each to come prepared to teach the class something for 5 minutes. There’s no constraints on the topics or formats, you just have 5 minutes and it can be about anything. So, I’ve decided to teach something I know well–Frontier College. I’m excited to have a chance to tell people about this organization as it’s seriously amazing. Like for real. It’s a huge part of why I want to be a teacher!
I’m just having trouble getting started. The one problem with having basically no guidelines is that there is no clear way of knowing what the professor is looking for in these presentations. So, I sit, and I ponder, and I procrastinate… and I’m sure I’ll come up with something before noon tomorrow.
…I hope. haha! I’ll let you know how it goes!
