    Poop Happens.

To the woman who gave me a dirty look for changing my son’s diaper in the grocery store parking lot this morning: I’m sure that seeing a poop-covered bum wasn’t on your grocery list this morning. I’m sorry about that. We had just finished our shopping and my son was crying and I thought he wanted to be fed… but I discovered the source of his discomfort as soon as I lifted him out of the seat. You’re right, I could have gone back into the store to try and change him there, but he was upset and the parking lot wasn’t busy, and changing him on the front seat…

    We had a long night.

I mentioned that he had his four month check up on Friday, and with that came his next round of routine vaccinations. One of the vaccines he received was a second dose to protect against Rotavirus. The doctor warned me that he could experience a mild upset stomach and vomiting for a few days, but he didn’t react at all to his first dose so I wasn’t worried. On Friday night he spiked a low fever. This is pretty a common side effect to vaccinations– especially since he had had three in total that day. He was a little uncomfortable, so I gave him some baby Tylenol to help settle…

    Five Seconds*

Do you remember the show “LOST”? I was so obsessed when it first started. Then it got weird and it “lost” me. (Ha) That being said, there was a scene in the first or second episode that has really stayed with me. Jack, one of the lead characters, explains to another character how he deals with the fear he sometimes faces as a surgeon. In those moments when the fear was big, he would let himself feel it for five seconds, then he’d let it go and move on. There’s a scene shortly after where another character applies this practice and it helps her get through something really difficult. I’ve…

    Four Months*

W had his four month check up with our doctor today! His non-stop growth spurt seems to have leveled off a little and he is now officially ON the charts. He’s currently 17lbs 12oz, which could explain why my back and shoulders have been sore… (Does anyone know a good massage therapist?) He’s healthy and growing well, and he absolutely charmed everyone in the office today. He didn’t even cry when he got his needles… he was a total champ. This visit was SO much better than my last. Maybe I just caught my doctor on an off day last time, but today she was just oozing about how beautiful…

    The Poop Lady*

Sleep has still not been plentiful lately, so I decided to put in a curbside pickup grocery order, rather than attempting the store with an overtired baby. As I was attempting to cobble together a list of what I needed last night, I remembered a few other personal items I needed. I figured that I’d try and get them with my order to save me a trip inside. When I got to the store, I called the pickup number and told them which space I was in. As I sat and waited, the other vehicles in the lineup all got their orders and drove off. Finally my van was the…
